Please stop with this dreadful nonsense. It\u2019s not even about the medals themselves \u2014 it\u2019s about your way of thinking. <em>\u201cThose who oppose my policies deserve no recognition.\u201d<\/em> You are taking the first step towards punishment. Because that\u2019s what this is ultimately about. For ten weeks, I was in Greece. I visited several camps on Lesbos and Samos. I met people who live there. The conditions are horrific, and the newer the camp, the more it feels like a prison. In terms of comfort, it\u2019s non-existent. Filthy, cold, overcrowded, no privacy, police violence, rats and cockroaches. The message is clear: <strong>you are not welcome here<\/strong>. But thankfully, there are many people who resist this \u2014 who speak out, who act, who care. Brave people who do, and brave people who dare to speak up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let me put it plainly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There are pushbacks, often violent ones. The Greek government may deny it, but the evidence is overwhelming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Huge amounts of money are being poured into the camps, but it doesn\u2019t reach the people. Clear signs: filthy conditions, food that\u2019s neither nutritious nor sufficient, and monthly allowances that haven\u2019t been paid since May.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children do not belong behind barbed wire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Babies deserve to grow up in clean, safe environments \u2014 not filthy camps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People fleeing violence deserve protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thousands are imprisoned on charges of human trafficking <strong>without evidence<\/strong>. That is injustice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To Ms. Faber, one simple message in bold, capital letters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PEOPLE FLEEING FOR THEIR LIVES ARE NOT CRIMINALS \u2014 THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS, LIKE YOU AND ME.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And those who help them, here or there, are not breaking policy. They are acting on values rooted in justice and human decency.
