Resisting the Militarisation of Youth in Israel
The project aims to uphold the rights of Palestinians and Israelis as militarism contributes to perpetuating the conflict, occupation of Palestinian Territories, and human rights violations in the region. We aim to: 1. Provide direct assistance to & support 800 individuals seeking to avoid or discontinue military service in Israel; 2. Promote dialogue and critical discourse on militarism in Israel and its implications on human rights abuses. The project will respond to inquiries for support, which are forwarded to our 25 volunteers, who will closely accompany each applicant until exemption. In addition, we will recruit and train new volunteers as well as monitor changes in the army’s working methods and procedures of the exemption and update volunteers accordingly. Finally, we will promote dialogue and critical discourse on militarism in Israel and its implications on human rights abuses of Palestinians through the participation in civil society initiatives and other forums.
